Not the Easiest or the Prettiest

To begin living a life of peace, happiness and success, it helps to become conscious of the thousands of decisions you make every day and start to turn off your auto-pilot decision making process. When you turn off auto-pilot you get to have more say in your life. You become the pilot. You get to drive the jet plane that is called your life. Who doesn’t want that?

When you start to become intentional about injecting  love into what you think, what you choose to say and how you say it and how you behave, your entire world will change for the better.

Okay, but how do I insert all of this love into my life?

Start with baby steps. For one decision a day, big or small, ask yourself, “On a scale of 1 to 10, how would I rate this decision as the most loving thing I could think, say or do?”

But, what is the most loving thing? How do you measure such a thing? How do you know how much love is in each alternative option? Is it always being nice and smiley? Absolutely not.

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is to remain silent. Sometimes it might be giving someone brutal honesty which brings some short-term discomfort but will benefit them in the long term. It may also be that you have to hold someone accountable for hurting you. Perhaps it is being vulnerable, authentic and open. The most loving decision isn’t always the easiest or the prettiest. The “choose love” portion of Love and Let can be tough.  The most loving thing to think, say or do can also be the most difficult. Other times it can be easy and kind. Given thought and practice, you will start to intuitively learn how to choose love.

I like to say the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi to help guide my decisions.

Francis

I challenge you to one loving decision today!
