How often do you say those three little words? How many people in your life get to hear you say it?
Three simple powerless words by themselves: Love You I; Put together in the order of I Love You and delivered to another human being at the right time for the right reason can have amazing power. Hearing I Love You from another person can lift your spirit, can make you feel appreciated, can help bandage your wounds. It’s equivalent to putting your love in a gift wrapped box and handing it someone.
Do you have trouble saying I love you to the people in your life? Like anything else it gets easier with practice.
Most parents in the 21st century have no problem saying I love you to their children; Likewise most people in a healthy relationship can whisper those three little words into the ear of their spouse or mate. But…do you say it enough to these people that you hold dear?
What isn’t so easy for people is telling their friends I Love You, especially for us guys. For women, the biggest difficulty is telling a man that isn’t your husband or boyfriend I Love You. These difficulties are driven by the fact that many people struggle to remove the romantic or sexual connotations from I Love You. But when you start telling more people you love them, some crazy things happen. Your heart grows larger and other people begin to love you a little fuller.
These words are so powerful – too much so to withhold them because we are fearful of how they will be received; fear that they might bring awkwardness.
Just LET it fly. When you feel it. When you know someone needs it. LET go of your fears and reservations. LET the words roll out of your mouth.
