Funerals suck.
Crying. Awkwardness.
Not sure what to say to the grieving.
I hope I don’t say something stupid like “he looks good”.
Maybe I will just go look at the pictures on the display board.
I want to leave but I just got here so I will sit on a pew for a few minutes.

Have you ever heard people say something like, “I don’t do funerals” or “I don’t like funerals so I don’t go”?
My response is no kidding. Nobody does pal. In other words you are saying that you choose not to give love when people need it the most.

But visitations and funerals are important to attend. People’s hurting hearts need their friends and family to show them that they are cared about; that they are important. How many times have you waffled on attending, then decided and ended up be very glad that you did? Even though you may think it may not be, your presence is meaningful. Your touch on the shoulder, your smile, and your words are meaningful to others, especially in their time of need.
All you need to do is show up. Showing up is showing love. Whatever else you can muster after that is bonus.
Just show up and show love. You will always be glad you did.
